William Thurman Holloway

December 15, 1928 - January 21, 2012

William Thurman Holloway, of Corinth, KY. passed away Saturday, January 21 at Emeritus at Edgewood at the age of 83. Mr. Holloway was born December 15, 1928 in Ludlow, KY. to the late James Bradley Holloway and Iva Routen Holloway. Mr. Holloway proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and spent a total of 20 years in the military. He went on to retire from the United States Postal Service working as a sorting clerk at the Dalton Street Post Office in Cincinnati and at the Airport Post Office. Mr. Holloway was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Lexington Chapter and a Kentucky Colonel. He also was a former Little League Baseball coach. At the time of his passing he was a member of the New Columbus Baptist Church and the Burlington Masonic Lodge #264. One of his favorite things to do was fish and spend time at his little cottage on the Corinth Lake with family and friends and his granddaughter, Mariah. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his wife: Peggy Ann Holloway on August 17, 2005 and by a son: William R. Holloway on August 27, 2005. Mr. Holloway leaves to mourn his passing a son: James K. Holloway of Mt. Zion, KY. and 1 sister: Emma Jean Coffey of Indialantic, Florida. He has 1 grand daughter: Mariah Holloway of Mt. Zion, KY. Funeral services for Mr. Holloway will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 25 in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth with Rev. David Foley and Rev. Brad Vincent officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County.
