John William Hunter, Sr, of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Friday, January 13 at his residence at the age of 84. Mr. Hunter was born January 1, 1928 in Grant County, KY. to the late Benjamin Hunter, Sr. and Nora Mae Clark Hunter. Mr. Hunter proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and retired from Aamco Transmissions in Erlanger as an automatic transmission specialist. Mr. Hunter loved to be outdoors and particularly loved to work in his garden. He enjoyed all animals and had many pets. Mr. Hunter was a gifted musician and for many years played the bass. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by sons: John Hunter, Jr., Larry Hunter, and Jack Hunter, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Hunter, Jr. and by sisters, Nora Mae, Adah B. and Mary K. Mr. Hunter leaves to mourn his passing 2 sons: Harrison Hunter and his wife Mary of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Rick Hunter and his wife Jennifer of Dry Ridge, KY. He has 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hunter will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 18 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Visitation will be there on Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the Broadridge Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
