Virginia Ruth Franks Dills, of Mt. Zion, KY. passed away Saturday, May 14 at Jewel Knight's residence in Williamstown, KY. at the age of 84. Mrs. Dills was born March 24, 1927 in Mt. Zion, KY. to the late Virgil Price Franks and Mayme Rice Franks. She was a homemaker and a former bookkeeper on the tobacco market with her husband. She was a member of the Dry Ridge Christian Church where she was a former Vacation Bible School teacher. Mrs. Dills enjoyed dancing, music, nature, travel and animals. She was a former tap dancer and ballet dancer and turned down an offer to dance on Broadway. Mrs. Dills was the great, great niece of Chief Justice John Marshall, the third Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court and whose likness is on the $500 bill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dills was preceded in death by a brother: Virgil Franks. Mrs. Dills husband, D. W. "Bill" Dills passed away on Sunday, May 15. Mr. and Mrs. Dills were preceded in death by two children, one died March 31, 1954 and the other died May 1, 1957. Mrs. Dills is survived by a son: Paul M. Dills of Mt. Zion, KY. Funeral services for Mrs. Dills will be conducted on Sunday, May 22 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Rev. Wayne Barnett officiating. Visitation will be there on Sunday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
