Max Dee Gifford, Sr., 87, of Williamstown, KY. passed away on Monday, February 22 at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born December 9, 1922 in Inman, Nebraska to the late Dallas Byron Gifford and Blanche Baker Gifford. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the US Army. He served his nation in three wars. World War II, Korea and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a barber, a farmer, and a former clerk with Grant County Oil. He worked 15 years for Consolidated Freightways in Cincinnati. He studied for the ministry for three years in the Cincinnati Bible Seminary and preached the very first sermon in the new Antioch Church of Christ after the old church building burnt. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Williamstown Christian Church. He is survived by his wife: Alverta Colson Gifford. He has three daughters: Susan Gifford Ginter and husband Tony of Crittenden, KY., Nancy Gifford Duley and husband Mike of Crittenden, KY. and Dianna Gifford Adams of Dry Ridge, KY. He has three sons: Max D. Gifford, Jr. of Fairfield, OH., Lewis G. Gifford and wife Barbara of Union, KY. and Jim A. Gifford and wife Kathy of Crittenden, KY. He is survived by a brother: Richard Gifford of Plattsburg, NY. and by 17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: JoAnn Herman who was from Lincoln, NE. Funeral services for Mr. Gifford will be conducted Saturday, February 27 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge with Rev. Gary Swick officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 pm. Burial will be in the Antioch Church Cemetery, Corinth.
