Lee Farley Mills, 88, of Punta Gorda, Florida and formerly of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was born October 1, 1920 in Loyall, Kentucky to the late John J. Farley and Lola Jackson Farley. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA degree in elementary education and an MA degree from the University of Kentucky in school administration and counseling. She taught in several schools in Harlan County, KY. She served as counselor for the Georgetown High School, the Owen County Highs School and she completed her 44 year career in public education as the counselor for the Walton Verona High School in Walton, KY. She was the first woman appointed to the Board of Regents at Northern Kentucky University, serving in that capacity for 4 years. She is survived by her husband, William L. Mills. Also survived by a daughter: Jennifer Bowen of Williamstown, KY. 3 Grandchildren: Tracie Leigh Johnson of Stamping Ground, KY., Rebecca Bowen of Williamstown, KY., and Brandon Bowen of Georgetown, KY. Also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren: Katie and Cameron Johnson of Stamping Ground, KY. and Braxton Bowen of Georgetown, KY.
