Mr. Ferguson was an army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Dry Ridge Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 50 years and formerly taught Sunday school. He was the former mayor of Dry Ridge and currently served on the city council. He was a member of the adult education committee, member of the board of the Spears Foundation, member of the board of directors of Clear Creek, member of the selection committee for the Kentucky League of Cities. He was an executive board member of the Crittenden Baptist Association. He was also a member of the Williamstown Kiwanis. Ferguson Boulevard and the Ferguson tennis courts, both in Dry Ridge, are named in his honor.
