Albert "Abbie" Owen Harris

Albert Owen "Abbie" Harris was born January 14, 1936 in Montgomery Co., Kentucky and passed away September 26, 2019 in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 83.  He was the son of the late Walker Cecil and Rettie Walters Harris.

On November 29, 1960 Abbie was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Race Harris.  In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by 2 sons: Ricky Owen Harris (Junell) of Palm Coast, FL and David Lee Harris (Sebrena) of Williamstown; 3 daughters: Karen Sue Harris of Cold Springs, Mary Margaret Moss of Crittenden and Stacey Lynn Beach of Dry Ridge; a sister: Mary Foster of Cary, NC; and 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Abbie was a retired Auto Mechanic for Rockcastle Motors in Florence.  He also worked for Smith's Sunoco in Crittenden and Simon Fischer.  He was the former director of Grant County Little League for 2 years as well as a coach and umpire for many years.  He also enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing, especially rabbit hunting with his favorite dog, Rudolph.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the 11th Airborne Division and a member of the Marcus Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral services will be 11:30 AM, Monday, September 30, 2019 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be 5:00 - 9:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North.
