Mrs. Alice Hodges Bowen, a Burlington resident, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY at the age of 77. She was the widow of Walter B. Bowen who passed in 1998.
Mrs. Bowen was a retired teacher with Kenton Co. Schools with more than 25 years of dedicated service. The majority of her career was spent teaching History and Social Studies at Simon Kenton High School. She was a member of the Burlington Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a former member of the Knoxville Baptist Church. She loved flower gardening, humming birds, American history, but most of all, she cherished time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Kwah (the late James) of Ft. Worth, TX, one son, Dr. Scott Bowen (Dr. Jennifer) of Verona, KY, one sister, Linda Hodges (George Robinson) of Brooksville, MD, three grandchildren, RJ Bowen, Joshua Kwah and Alyson Bowen.
Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either Burlington Baptist Church, 3031 Washington St., Burlington, KY 41005 or Knoxville Baptist Church, 110 E. Fairview Rd., Williamstown, KY 41097. Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home of Williamstown, KY is handling arrangements.
