April Marie Polley, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, passed away suddenly at her home early Saturday morning, March 2nd, 2024; she was 54 years old. April was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Thursday, February 5th, 1970 to her loving parents, Frank and Judy Goodpaster. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her adoring husband, James Polley, her only child, Scott (Hannah) Goodpaster of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and her brother, Shawn (Lynn) Goodpaster of Reno, Nevada; as well as numerous close cousins and family members.
April spent the first seven years of her life here in Kentucky until moving to Florida with her family. There she soon became best friends with her Grandmother and discovered her love of Disney, Sea World, and the beach. A talented musician, April played the clarinet for a number of years in the band. Following her time in Florida, she moved to Nevada and attended Truckee Meadows College in Reno. Eventually she came full circle and ended up back here in Kentucky where she spent the rest of her days. April worked at Firstgroup America Inc. transportation services for over 18 years. She worked as an overseer of maintenance and transportation services there, constantly gaining promotions and undertaking new roles within the company.
April is described as an incredible person, though has always been her own person. As an avid reader, the books of Stephen King and Janet Evanovich always captured her interest. The genre of horror has been among her favorites in literature, cinema, and television; spending much quality time with James and the family watching Stephen King movies and The Walking Dead throughout the years. A huge fan of Marvel, Avengers and Thor were her favorite heroes of the big screen; while cooking shows like Hells Kitchen and any Gordon Ramsay series satisfied her culinary interests. A competitive card and dominoes player, April and her family spent many fun nights around the table winning, losing, but most importantly, creating moments together that none of them will ever forget.
It was through James’ sister, whom April worked with, that she was introduced to the love of her life and future husband. The two were united in marriage on Saturday, October 5th, 2002; they would have celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary this fall. April leaves a lasting legacy of her three treasured grandchildren: the twins, Beau & Luke, and baby Soley. She thought the absolute world of her grandkids.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service to honor April’s life will later be held at the convenience of her family. Her remains will be scattered across her home and the land that she made so many great memories upon with her family.
