Arnold Mcintosh

Arnold McIntosh of Crittenden, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 85. Arnold, the eldest of six children, was born in Mistletoe, Kentucky on Thursday, March 24th, 1938, to the late Zephe and Loretta McIntosh. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four of his siblings: Bertha McIntosh, Barbara Black, Gilbert McIntosh, and Ford McIntosh; as well as his two wives. Arnold was united in marriage to his wife Virginia Stamper McIntosh in 1966. The two of them were married for over 26 years until her passing in 1992. In 1996, Arnold married Irene Young McIntosh, they were married for 21 years until she passed in 2017.

Arnold is survived by his daughter, Vickie McIntosh of Crittenden, KY, his youngest sister, Sophia Meece of Verona, KY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnold made his living as a lifelong carpenter and master woodworker all across the state and surrounding areas. He enjoyed building and took great pride in his work. He let his extraordinary skill speak for itself, going to work where his craft was most needed and desired. Arnold played a part in the construction of countless buildings throughout much of Kentucky and beyond, including the addition to our funeral home here in Williamstown, Kentucky- we thank him for his phenomenal work.

In his younger years, Arnold was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing the streams of his homeland. In 1960, he moved to Northern Kentucky from Owsley County because that’s where the jobs were, but he never fell out of love with his home in the mountains. This was his favorite place on Earth and he returned there whenever he got the chance to. It was among this majestic scenery that brought him the most peace and joy in life. He enjoyed gardening and just being outdoors in general. He held a deep respect for nature and the immense beauty that God created.

A visitation for Arnold will be held at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY, on Monday, June 5th, 2023 from 12:00-2:00PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation here at the funeral home beginning at 2:00PM. Following the funeral service, Arnold will be laid to rest at the Crittenden Christian Cemetery in Crittenden, KY, next to his beloved Virginia.
