Arthur Dean Gross was born October 6, 1934 in Elliston, Kentucky and passed away January 12, 2023 in Brentwood, Tennessee at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Arthur and Clara Browning Gross.
Arthur, known to his family and friends as Buck, graduated from Crittenden High School in 1952 and from Eastern Kentucky State College in 1961. He also served in the United States Army. Arthur became a certified public accountant in 1966 and traveled extensively for his job in intergovernmental affairs visiting destinations throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the Caribbean. He retired from the General Accounting Office in 1989 after a highly recognized 30 year career in government. He was a long time member of Eagle Creek Country Club where he was an avid golfer, even once scoring a hole-in-one. His other hobbies included fishing, reading and following the stock market. He was know for his humble kindness and generosity and could often be found smoking a cigar, following the Cincinnati Reds or reading the Wall Street Journal.
Buck is survived by a sister, Alice Adelaide Toole of Nolensville, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Franks; and 6 sisters: Marjorie Jarmin, Mary Benjamin Hector, Clara Elizabeth Hunter, Joy Higgins, Anna Lou Weiskittel and Patricia Barnhill.
Graveside memorial services have not been scheduled at this time but will be updated once they become available.
