Bill Prewitt , 89, of the New Columbus Community of Owen Co., KY, passed into eternal life on Friday January 3, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 10, 1935 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late William “Gilly” and Emmer Weldon Prewitt.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of Owen County High School. On June 23, 1956 he married the love of his life and partner in ministry, the former Faye Eileen Nicholson; she survives. After many years of dedicated service to Kroger’s in Cincinnati, he retired. He was a very gifted and talented individual; his greatest fulfillment in life came from exercising his God-given musical talents, being faithful in daily Bible reading and serving the Lord in every way possible….doing it all to the “Glory of God”. He, along with his wife, Faye, his helpmate in ministry for 68 years, allowed themselves to be used of God to advance the Kingdom, especially through music. Together, through the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief Organization, they ministered all over the country to hurting and devastated humanity. They furthered their work by volunteering for Mission Trips over many states like, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri and all over Kentucky. Their stories are endless, as was Bill’s sense of humor and love for his family, friends, music and treasured colleagues. Above all, he dedicated his entire life to the love and worship of God Almighty. “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
Along with his faithful wife, Faye, he was blessed by two daughters: Charlotte Faye Prewitt of New Columbus, KY, Cynthia Mae (Joey) Wallace of Ryland Heights, KY; six grandchildren: Kevin Webster, Craig Webster, Shawn Bates, William Ammerman, Brittany Ammerman Carden, Joseph Wallace; 16 great-grandchildren: Austin B., Tyson B., Anthony Scott, Audrey W., Sadie and Shawn, Jr., Gage Ray, Makayla Ammerman, Alauna Ammerman, Seth Carden, Kevin A., Brooklynn Carden, Carson Smith, Max Webster, Alex Estes and Lila Webster, along with four great-great-grandchildren: Waylon Ray, Genesis Ammerman, Kolson and Easton B. He was preceded in death by his five brothers: Clarence Prewitt, Virgil Prewitt, Jimmy Prewitt, Walter Prewitt, Ralph Prewitt and one sister: Margaret Carr.
