Billy Thomas Ellis

Billy Thomas Ellis , 92, of Corinth, KY, went to his heavenly home Monday December 21, 2020 at VillaSpring Nursing and Rehab Center in Erlanger.  Born April 12, 1929 in Owen County, KY, he was the son of the late Harry and Lillian Littrell Ellis.

On February 21, 1945, Billy was united in marriage to the former Betty Mae Colson, a union that has lasted for 75 years.  He started out his working career as a Masonry Contractor; that developed into becoming a General Contractor, building many pole barns and other farm buildings. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but his greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his grandchildren/great-grandchildren, whom affectionately called him “Papaw”.  He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 75 years, Betty Mae Colson Ellis, include one son: Mickey Ellis of Corinth, KY; two brothers: Garland Ellis of Alexandria, KY, Layel Ellis of Fort Meyers, FL; two sisters: Sally Sue Sebree of Cordova, KY and Charlene Colson of Syracuse, FL. Four grandchildren also survive: Sonia Thornton of Crittenden, KY, Chris Ellis of Mt. Zion, KY, Shella Monds of Corinth, KY and Shane Ellis of Georgia. Twelve great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a son: Michael Thomas Ellis, two brothers: Jerry Ellis, Charlie Ellis and one sister: Betty Ann Hymer.

Visitation will be Monday December 28, 2020 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth, KY from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery located at 210 Keefer Road, Corinth, KY 41010  at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Howard Chipman officiating.
