Bobby Gene Merida

Mr. Bobby Gene Merida, a Verona resident, surrounded by family, passed away in his home on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 84 after a long battle with cancer.  He was the widow of the late Mary Tinch Merida.

Bobby was born on October 1, 1939 to the late Cash and Gladys Merida.  He was the former owner of Merida Masonry where he laid brick for most of his life.  He loved to travel to the smoky mountains with his wife in early years.  In his free time, he and his dog Jade would often be seen riding his lawnmower down to his lake to fish, which was his passion.  He loved to watch NASCAR, Cincinnati Reds and go camping with family.  He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Bobby is survived by two sons, David (Lora) Merida of Verona, KY and Robert Gene (Amanda) Merida, his daughter, Kathaleen (Jeff) Hamilton of Verona, KY, sister Ester Merida of Crittenden, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in passing by three brothers, Lloyd, James and Lester Merida.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 1pm at the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY.  Friends and family are encouraged to arrive at 12:45pm.  Pastor Gayliss Gaines will be officiating services.
