Buck Baker

Mr. Raymond "Buck" H. Baker, Jr, a Verona resident, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the age of 84.  He was the husband of the late Eleanor Louise Marsh Baker.

Buck was born on January 2, 1938 in Verona, KY to the late Raymond Baker, Sr. and Geneva Vest Baker.  Buck was united in marriage to Eleanor Marsh in April of 1956.  He was a truck driver and owner/operator for Baker Trucking for 60 years.  Buck was a lifelong farmer, cattle and equipment hauler. He was a former fire chief and one of the founders of the Verona Fire Department.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball.  He loved to work on the farm where he is described as a jack-of-all trades.  He was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends and in his pastime, he loved to socialize in the community.

Buck was survived by three sons, Howard C. (Diane) Baker, Arnold "Speed" W. (Sharon) Baker, Harvey B. (Rita) Baker, one daughter, Audrey (David) Finke, one sister Juanita (Joe) Jones, thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 4-8pm at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home, Verona, KY.  Funeral services will be on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11am.  Rev. George Naylor will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY.
