Calvin "Chuck" James Cox

Calvin “Chuck” James Cox, 77, of Bainbridge, OH, passed away Monday July 24, 2023 at his residence in Bainbridge.  Born on July 5, 1946 in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late William Bernard and Laura Katherine Cox.

“Chuck’, as he was affectionately known, was a 1964 graduate of Holmes High School in Covington, KY. Upon graduation from high school he entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam era; much of his time was served in Germany as an MP (Military Police). He retired from Cincinnati Gas and Electric after many years of service.

Chuck will be remembered for many things, in many ways... but first and foremost, he will be remembered most for his love for family; he was an avid antique collector and a great story teller.  He had an uncanny relationship with animals.  He was lovingly deemed “The Patron Saint of Animals” because of his incredible animal magnetism. This was evident when deer would come out of the woods on his farm and eat right out of his hand; he would frequently put his feet in the pond and immediately fish would  swim to him. Over the years he rescued and compassionately nurtured many injured stray animals back to health.

He leaves to carry on his legacy, a long time friend, Robert Sterling Welch; one sister: Ruth Ann Switzer of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by five brothers: William Cox, Alvin Cox, Ronald Cox, Donald Cox, Robert Cox and four sisters: Billie Cox, Wilma Cox, Wanetta Marks, Wanda Cook and a sister that died at infancy.

Visitation will be held Monday July 31, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Crittenden.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the funeral home; he will be laid to rest next to his parents in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
