Calvin Devers , Jr.76, a resident of Corinth, KY passed away Tuesday June 11, 2019 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army for 16 years. He served during wartime in Vietnam and did tours of duty in Korea, Germany and statewide. He reluctantly left the service after having a heart attack. He was a member of the American Legion Post 137 in Williamstown and the Frankfort Chapter of VFW. He was very proud of his service and always said he would do it all over again if he could.
He was the son of the late Calvin Devers and Mary Susan Shields Devers. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hunter and sister, Florence Daley.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, JoNell; 3 sons: Calvin “Chris” Devers of Georgetown, Hunter Hatchett of Corinth, and Jody Hatchett of Corinth, also of Corinth is Kannetha Hatchett, a beloved daughter-n-law. He leaves 4 grandchildren, Ceci Dobbek, Haley Humphries, Rhyan Hatchett and Hannah Hatchett, all of Corinth. His heart went to his 2 great-granddaughters: Addison and Emerson, who brought so much joy to his life and will always be their “Pa”; he affectionately called them his “Blue Eyes”. He also leaves his special friend, a Jack Russell dog, “Jasper”. Before his health began to fail, he loved hunting and traveling but his greatest love was his family. He was preceded in death by one brother: Charles Hunter and one sister: Florence Daley.
Calvin worshipped at Stonewall First Church of God, Sadieville, KY.
Visitation will be Friday June 14, 2019 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and going until the time of the services at 10:30. Funeral services will be at 10:30 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth with Bro. Roger Wells, Stonewall First Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery - North in Williamstown with full Military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers are: Darrel Baker, Lloyd Jones, Jimmy Goodrich, Charles Jones, Dwight Works and Sam Wright.
