Calvin "Gene" Thomas

Calvin "Gene" Thomas, a resident of Dry Ridge, was born Jan. 6, 1934 in Winchester, KY and passed away Dec. 11, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY at the age 84.  He was the son of the late Joseph Everett and Rena Neal Thomas.

Calvin was a retired farmer and formerly worked as an Electronics Technician for Honeywell.  He was a member of the Dry Ridge Baptist Church and Grant Co. Cattleman's Association.   He was also a 10 year veteran of the United States Air Force and received the National Defense Service Medal.  Mr. Thomas also for many years owned and operated Thomas Computers.

On May 24, 1952 Calvin was united in marriage to Janet Clair Thomas who preceded him death in 2017.  He is survived by his son: Jeff Thomas of Williamstown; his daughter: Lori Ann (Donald "Clay") Reed of Ladson, SC; 2 brothers: Cecil Thomas of Creve Coeur, MO and James Thomas of Dry Ridge; and 2 sisters: Sue Hegyvary of Bellevue, WA and Faye Marksberry of Williamstown.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Calvin was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Melvin and Raymond Thomas; and 2 sisters: Florence Peace and Marie Kimball.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown. Visitation will be 11:00 - 1:30 PM Monday at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge.  Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
