Charles Ray Phillips was born October 24, 1936 in Williamstown, Kentucky and passed away Jan. 26, 2022 at his residence in Dry Ridge at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Stanley Young and Mary Alberta Phillips.
On April 3, 1981 Charlie was united in marriage to Wilma Phillips who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death his former wife, Claudine. In addition, Charlie was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ronald and Clyde Walter "Pete" Phillips; 3 sisters: June Phillips, Jacqueline Phillips and Betty Ann; and 4 siblings that were stillborn or passed away as young infants.
On August 5, 2017 Charlie was united in marriage to Virginia, she survives. He is also survived by 4 children: Dewey Phillips, Teresa Coots, Tammy Mann (Chris) and Alisha Jones; 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Leigh, Taylor, Blake and Hayden; 4 great grandchildren: Willow, Gavin, Owen and Parker; his wife's, Virginia, children: Evangeline Sanchez, Emmanuel De Leon (Rhoda) and Ellen White (Dra); and Virginia's six grandchildren.
Charlie was a graduate of Williamstown High School and served his country in the United States Army.
After 31 years of dedicated service with AT&T as a cable splicer he retired but continued to farm until his death. He was co-owner of Phillips & Lea Farms and formerly worked at the Gentry Tobacco Warehouse in Lexington. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Charlie was an avid fisherman, traveler and enjoyed life to the fullest!
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022 at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge. Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
