Charles “Charlie” Wesley Elliott, 79, of Dry Ridge, KY, died on Saturday April 29, 2023 at his residence. Born on April 28, 1944 in Pendleton County, KY, he was the son of the late Claude Ray and Audrey Viola Mann Elliott. In 1962 Charlie graduated from Pendleton County High School. In 1965 he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War; he earned the rank of Sergeant. After many years with CSX Railroad he retired as an Locomotive Engineer. Every year he looked forward to attending the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville; he loved fishing and raising a vegetable garden. Attending tractor/truck pulls, as well as participating in them were among his favorite activities; on several occasions he won truck pull competitions with his truck “Elvira”. He loved having conversation with his many friends over a cold beer. He was also known as the “Lucky Gambler” because of his remarkable luck in gambling. Survivors include two daughters: Jacqueline Rae Browning of Dry Ridge and Angela Elliott of Lexington. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Paul Elliott, Carl “John” Elliott, Gerald “Jerry” Elliott, Robert Elliott and a sister: Helen Rhea Godsey. Three grandchildren also survive: Tate Ramsey, Garret Souder, and Josie Browning along with one great-grandchild, Sage Jones. Visitation will be Wednesday May 3, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 with D. Milkweed Wotier officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery where full military honors will be observed. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Webster, Greg Middleton, Colt Ruber, Lamar Fowler, Darrel Bowman and Craig Elliott.
