Dakota "Cody" Thomas Stephens

Dakota “Cody” Thomas Stephens , 22, of Independence, KY, died Saturday July 1, 2023 at his residence.  Born on Friday September 8, 2000 in Edgewood, KY, he was the son of Ernest Glen Stephens and Trina Jo Cavins Stephens.

“Cody”, as he was affectionately known, worked as a line cook for LaRosa’s Pizza.  He was a fun-loving individual, very adventurous, loved fishing and all outdoor activities; he was an all-a-round good natured young man. Everything he did centered around his love for life and family. He attended 7 Hill Church in Florence.

He will be forever remembered by his mother: Trina Jo (Edgar Gudin’o) Stephens of Independence; his father Ernest Glen Stephens, Jr. of Boone County; his "love", Baylee Gallenstein of Independence; two daughters: Maleeyiah Joe’ann Stephens of Independence, Isabella Kathleen Hicks of Alexandria; two sisters: Brittany Druscilla Stephens of Florence, Charity Star Stephens; his paternal grandfather: Larry George (late Peggy) Cavins of Independence; paternal grandmother: Wanda Stephens; two aunts: Jamie (Ashley) Lynn Loveless of Erlanger, Shirley Jean Lay of Florence; four nieces/nephews: Jordan Stephens, Nevaeh Stephens, Tate Stephens, Harper Stephens and cousins: Matt Nichols, Yazmyn Loveless, Raelynn Johnson, Noah Johnson and Kingston Watson.

Visitation will be Friday July 7, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Homes – Verona.  Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 with Chaplain Chuck Myser officiating.  Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.
