Dale Fortner

Dale Fortner was born April 11, 1934 in Williamstown, Kentucky and passed away January 6, 2021 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 86.  He was the son of the late Alvie and Lurah Howard Fortner.

Dale retired as a Captain with the Kentucky State Police and served as Commander of Post 6 in Dry Ridge for 11 years and was a former Acting Commissioner as well as Lt. Colonel.  He was very well respected among the ranks of the KSP throughout Kentucky.

In addition to his decorated career, Dale was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church having served the congregation as an Elder for 40 years and currently was Elder Emeritus.  In his free time he enjoyed farming and taking care of his cattle.  He and his wife, Jo Ann, loved spending time together and travelling.  One of his greatest joys came from spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his wife: Jo Ann Harrison Fortner; a daughter: Vicki Powers (Richard) of Williamstown; a sister: Beulah Willoby of Williamstown; 5 grandchildren: Todd Bradley, Justin Powers, Amanda Lisenby, Jennifer Bradley and Sarah Powers; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Tricia Bradley.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Williamstown.  A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral at the church.  Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery.  Due to Covid19 restrictions masks will be required while attending services and social distancing will be followed.  For those who are unable to attend the funeral services, they will be livestreamed on the Mt. Olivet Christian Church Facebook page and website.
