Dannie Ray Sydnor

Dannie Ray Sydnor, 85, of Dry Ridge, KY, died Monday February 20, 2023 at his residence.  Born on Saturday April 10, 1937 in Dry Ridge, KY, he was the son of the late Clyde Franklin and Sylvia Mae House Sydnor.

On July 25, 1969, Dannie was united in marriage to the former Nancy J. Mullins; she survives. He was known as a Master Mechanic; over the years he gained much satisfaction from working on and rebuilding thousands of automobiles. Until his retirement he worked as a Transmission Assembler for Ford Motor Co. Being a “Car Show Enthusiast”, he attended and participated in many car events.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Master Drill Sargent.  He was a member of United Auto Workers and Knoxville Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of almost 54 years, Nancy J. Sydnor, he is survived by one son: Steve Ray (Bethany) Sydnor of Dry Ridge; one daughter: Brittany Elaine (Joe) Marshall of Piner; one brother: Larry (Glenna) Sydnor of Erlanger and three sisters: JoAnn (Gene) Milner of Union, Betty Johnson (Bill) of Burlington and Linda (Steve) Mildon of Union.  Four grandchildren also survive: Sierra Alexandra (Jake) Morris, Bronwen Rae Sydnor, Hunter Joseph Marshall, Ellie Grace Marshall along with one great-grandson: Jordy Alexander Morris, all of whom lovingly called him “Papaw”.  He was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronnie Sydnor, Jimmy Sydnor and David Sydnor.

Visitation will be Thursday February 23, 2023 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Funeral services will be Friday morning February 24 at 11:30 with Rev. Josh Cummins officiating.  Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – North (KVC-N) in Williamstown.  Arrival time at the cemetery is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. where full military honors will be observed.
