Darlene Dews

Lura Darlene Dews, 74, of Corinth, KY passed away Monday June 6, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center - Edgewood.  Born July 5, 1947 in the New Columbus Community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Virgil and Lura Wright Jones.

On May 9, 1981 she was united in marriage at New Columbus Baptist Church to Larry Dews; he survives. Baking, cooking and working with her flowers are some of the many things she will long be remembered for, but the greatest legacy she leaves is her love for her family and the Lord. She will long be remembered for the many ways she faithfully served her church, one of which was serving as Sunday School Secretary at New Columbus Baptist for 39 years.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 41 years, Larry, include her daughters: Tammy Darlene (Randy) Mason of Corinth, Susan Elaine Dews of Union; her son: Larry Michael (Tiffany) Dews of Corinth; her grandchildren: Miranda Darlene-Mason Bencomo, Samantha Lee Mason, Audra Danielle Dews and Michaela August Dews and her sibling: Roy (Kathy) Jones, along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brothers: Wilburn Jones, Arthur Jones and Joe Virgil Jones, Jr.

Visitation will be Thursday June 9, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth.  Visitation will resume Friday morning June 10 ^th at 12:00 noon at New Columbus Baptist Church until the time of the funeral at 1:00; Rev. Brad Vincent will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Columbus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Darlene’s memory to: New Columbus Cemetery Fund which will be used exclusively for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery.  Contributions may be sent to: Tommy & Jan Scott, 17655 New Columbus Rd, Corinth, KY  41010.
