Dr. David Royce Long, 74, of Burlington, KY, slipped into his eternal home Thursday October 13, 2022 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born May 19, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Ernest Ray and Ethel Marie Sloan Long. On August 1, 1969 David was united in marriage to the former Helen Domaschko; she survives. He served as a Field Engineer for NCR in Cincinnati; he retired in 2006. Upon retirement, he worked as a Tobacconist at Straus…..He proudly served his country in Korea during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army; he was a graduate of Boone County High School and later received his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Logos Institute of Theology. For 26 years he served as Pastor of Burlington Pentecostal Church. Other community involvements include being an NRA Benefactor, a Kentucky Colonel and a realtor with Goodfellas Realty Group. Spending time with his family, camping and fishing were among his greatest delights. He lovingly earned the name “Chili Dave” because of his famous chili recipe. He leaves to carry on his legacy of love and commitment, his wife of 53 years, Helen Long; five sons: David Long of Constance, KY, Robert Long of Lebanon Junction, KY, Jason (Senja) Long of Cincinnati, OH, Michael (Cheri) Long of Williamstown, KY, Donald (Lauren) Long of Burlington, KY; one brother: Steve (Barb) Long of Osgood, IN, one sister: Debbie Shields of Florence, KY, along with 8 grandchildren: Cheyenne, David, Maggie, Tyler, James, Shelby, Owen and Ava, all of whom affectionately called him “Paw Paw”. In February of 2020, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Long. Visitation will be Wednesday October 19, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown location. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Floyd Race officiating. Special music will be provided by Ronn Jones and Josh Lindsey. Burial will follow with full Military Honors; arrival time at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-North is 2 p.m. Serving as Pallbearers are: David Long, Robert Long, Jason Long, Michael Long, Donald Long, David Long, Tyler Anderson and James Anderson.
