David Wayne Smith

April 2, 1945 — October 9, 2022

David Wayne Smith, 77, of Florence, KY, formerly of Dry Ridge, died Sunday October 9, 2022 at Woodspoint Nursing and Rehab Center in Florence.  Born in Sherman, KY on April 2, 1945, he was the son of the late Alvin Perry and Mildred Lee Ridell Smith.

“Wayne” was a truck driver for Stoops Transportation, based out of Daleville, IN.  He had a passion for bluegrass music, flea markets, watching TV, collecting clocks, Harley knives and various knick-knacks; his favorite color was pink!!  He was a member of Sherman Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Derek (Jennifer) Smith of Unionville, TN, Jeff (Jamie) Price of Independence, KY; three daughters: Sonya (David) Blackwell of Murfreesboro, TN, Sharon (Eric) Hileman of Columbia, TN, Crystal Tucker of Summertown, TN; one sister: Joyce Smith of Verona, KY, along with 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: Gene Smith; a sister: Gloria Roberts, three granddaughters: Ashley Huckaby, Kayla Taylor, Amber Hayes; a grandson: Gabriel Stacey and his girlfriend: Harriet Price.

Visitation will be Thursday October 13, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge.  Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Lane officiating.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery.
