Dewey C. Switzer, a Florence, KY resident, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the age of 79.
Dewey was born on July 15, 1941 in Scottsburg, IN, to the late Calvin and Esther Sebastian Switzer. Dewey always liked to brag about how he was the only one of his siblings that was born in Indiana. Dewey graduated from Lloyd High School in Erlanger, KY and later from Thomas More University. Dewey retired from General Electric Aircraft Engines in Evendale, Oh where he worked for 35 years as a program engineer and specialized in CNC machine and tooling. He was a member of the Plum Creek Christian Church. He loved music, songwriting, playing the guitar, the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was an avid UK Basketball fan and loved to listen to country music. He loved being around family, spending time with his brother and sisters, children, grandchildren and great grandkids. Dewey will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whom knew and loved him.
Dewey is survived by three daughters, Shelly Switzer of Erlanger, KY, Becky (Tony) Thompson of Erlanger, KY, Amy (Steve) Thomas of Owenton, KY, two sons, Matthew (Vida) Switzer of Florence, KY, David (Jane) Switzer of Frisco, TX, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Paul Switzer and three sisters, Elberta Lundy, Barb Schuster, and Nancy Minnick.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2020 from 12noon-2pm at the Elliston – Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY. Funeral services will be at 2pm. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Assocation.
