Donald J. “D.J.” Adams , 83, of Williamstown, KY, passed away on February 15, 2021 at his residence. Born March 23, 1937 in Grant County, he was the son of the late Elmo Spencer and Mildred Jeanette Daniel Adams.
On October 9, 1970, “D.J.”, as he was affectionately known, was united in marriage to the former Jean Marie Purcell; she survives. He was a lifelong farmer; he also enjoyed working as a mechanic. He will long be remembered as a man who “could fix anything”, always helping a neighbor in need and cooking up a delicious pot of venison stew. Hunting and fishing were special to him but his philosophy was “never catch or hunt anything you won’t eat.” He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. At an early age D.J. was baptized in Dania, FL; he attended Fairview Christian Church in Williamstown.
D.J. leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of 50 years, Jean Adams; one son: Daniel John Adams of Williamstown, KY; one step-son: Donald Allen Mortenson of Williamstown and one step-daughter: Janelle Marie (Bill) Gibbs of Hickory, NC. Three grandchildren also survive: Gracie Adams, Audrey Adams, Natalie Adams; along with six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all his siblings: Dean, Ray, Geraldine, Gerald and Janet.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on March 23, 2021 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - North (KVC-N) in Williamstown at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Wayne Rice officiating.
