Donald Ray Poe

Donald Ray Poe, 89, of Corinth, KY, died Monday August 22, 2022 at his residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Born July 23, 1933 in Owen County, KY, he was the son of the late Alton and Pearl Howard Poe.

On June 9, 2001 he was united in marriage to the former Gladys Elaine Jones; she survives. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned an Engineering degree.  He worked as an engineer and plant manager at Norplex Industries for many years. He was a skilled and proven business leader, having served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in Franklin, IN, he received the “Businessman of the Year” Award from the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, helped incorporate the Corinth Fire Department, where he served as Chairman of the Board for over 21 years; he was also very active in New Columbus Baptist Church where he served as Moderator and Treasurer of the Missions and Ministry Fund.

Don leaves to carry on his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Gladys Poe; one daughter: Janie (Scott) Bowlin of Harrison, OH; one sister: Shirley (late Ronnie) Dunavent of Fairfield, OH and two step-children: Tony (Kathy) Rose of Berry, KY, Joy (Gary) Kelly of Corinth, KY along with six  grandchildren: Jesse (Rebecca) Pugh, Shane (Melissa) Scalf, Josh (Katie) Bowlin, Ryan (Lindsey) Bowlin, Karie (Michael) Swafford, Nick (Shawn) Kelly; 14 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Jordyn, Cora, Emmilyn, Savannah, Saoirse, Bentley, Kamden, Landen, Talor, Shane, Jr, Breanna, Gracie and Aaron and one great-great-grandchild: Aubree.  He was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Debbie Caton Poe and Donna Lee Poe.

Visitation will be Saturday August 27, 2022 at New Columbus Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Pastor Brad Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in the New Columbus-Fairview Cemetery.
