Donald "Pop" Brown

Donald Eugene “Pop” Brown , 88, of Erlanger, KY, died Thursday October 26, 2023 at Village Care Center in Erlanger.  Born on July 27, 1935 in Grant County, KY, he was the son of the late Solomon King and Betty Elliott Brown.

On August 3, 1956, “Pop”, as he was affectionately known by everyone, was united in marriage to the former Jenna Lou Sargent; she preceded him in death on October 6, 2002. He was in the first graduating class of the Grant County High School in 1954; afterwards he joined the Army Reserves.  In January of 1997, after many years, he retired from GE Aviation in Cincinnati.  He will be long remembered for his love and participation in sports; he was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame.  Over the years he has coached and played in many baseball games.  He was a member of Erlanger Baptist Church.

To carry on his legacy, he leaves one daughter: Sherri (Barry) Brown Mauntel of Erlanger, KY; two sons: Barry Eugene (Kim) Brown of Rising Sun, IN, Randy (Sheila) Brown of Union, KY and one sister: Virginia Nix of Owenton, KY.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Shaun (Kati),Tiffany (Shawn), Katie, Emily, and six great-grandchildren: Bailey (Josh), Skylar, Sam, Zander, Liam, Eli and one great-great granddaughter: Maizie.

Visitation will be held Thursday November 2 at Erlanger Baptist Church from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 with Rev. Larry Dean Brock officiating.  Burial will take place the following morning, Friday November 3rd at 12 noon at Williamstown Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife. The procession will line up at Stanley Funeral Homes - Williamstown at 11:15.
