Donnie Ray House

Mr. Donnie Ray House, a Dry Ridge resident, passed away at the Boonespring nursing home on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the age of 88.  He was the husband of the late Carol Long House.

Donnie was born in Jonesville, KY on August 21, 1933 to the late Oba House and Clara Vannarsdall House.  Shortly after high school, Donnie joined the U.S. Army and spent two years serving our country.  Upon leaving the Army, Donnie continued his educational journey and received a Bachelor's degree in education from Morehead State University.  Over the next several years, Donnie received his Master's degree from Georgetown College and an Institute of French degree from the Atlanta University.

Donnie was a former life long member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and is currently a member of the Sherman Church of Christ.  During the course of his life as an educator, he thoroughly enjoyed teaching children and was known for aiding and preparing teenagers for employment opportunities.  He was a supporter of the Sheriff's Ranch program in both Kentucky and Florida, he was a KY Colonel, an avid reader and a properties investor.

Donnie is survived by one granddaughter, Carisa Hassman of Alabama, two nephews, Kevin Willoughby (Linda) of Dry Ridge, KY, Garla House of Lexington, KY, three nieces, Judy Hiler (John) of Lexington, KY, Doris Dickerson of Williamstown, KY, Clara Dickerson (Dave) of Stockdale, OH, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.  Donnie was preceded in death by one son Craig House Hassman, one brother Norman 'Bub' House (Laura), and one sister, Doris 'Dot' Willoughby (Hubert).

Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2022 from 11am-1pm at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Jonesville, KY.  Funeral will begin at 1pm.  Burial will follow at the Jonesville Cemetery.  Pastors Gene Hill and Scotty Simpson will be officiating services.  Memorials are suggested to the Macedonia Baptist Church or the Sherman Church of Christ.
