It is with great sadness and overwhelming joy that we recognize the life of Dorothy Naomi Gillispie Moore. Sadness at our loss but great joy that she traded her cross for a crown. Dorothy lived a blessed life and passed away early Wednesday morning December 19, 2018 at the age of 92 in her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Bracken Co., KY, a daughter of the late Omer and Minnie Florida Crupper Gillispie. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John David Moore, her brothers: John, Silas, Paul, Ray, Jim and Lloyd Gillispie; two sisters: Rena Moses, Nannie Jenkins, a daughter-in-law: Dorothy Cornett Moore and a son-in-law John R. Hill.
A dedicated wife, mother, and “grandma”, she was a committed Christian, who loved the Lord and lived out her faith in her daily walk. She wore out many Bibles in her lifetime; she led every one of her children to the Lord, each of them, also living out their faith in obedience to the Lord. She was faithfully committed to the work and ministries of both the First Church of God in Erlanger and Stonewall First Church of God in Sadieville and could always be found reading her Bible and teaching her family of God's love.
Dorothy loved attending the Camargo Camp Meetings every year in Mt. Sterling, KY. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Society and in January of 2001 she marched in the March for Life Campaign in Washington, D.C. Throughout her lifetime she has written many poems and songs; she loved playing the piano and doing needlepoint. When she was in her 50’s it was her goal to complete her education; she successfully accomplished all requirements for her GED.
Dorothy was a wonderfully devoted mother of six children: a son, Bob Moore of Florence, KY; five daughters: Patricia (James Steve) Toles of Emmett, Idaho, Rita Hill (Michael) Brooks of Newport News, VA, Judy (Winston) Roberts of Crittenden, KY, Charlotte (Gene) Salyers of Fairborn, OH and Kathy (Charles) Jones of Corinth, KY. She was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild also survive.
Visitation will be Friday December 21, 2018 at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth from 11:00 – 1:00. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00PM. Burial will be in the Gillispie Family Cemetery in Sadieville, KY.
A special word of thanks and appreciation go out to Kathy and Charles Jones who loving took care of Dorothy, made many sacrifices and made sure all her needs were met. Also, the family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice for all their care, calls, visits and prayers.
Wednesday morning the Master said, “Dorothy, well done thy good and faithful servant…enter now into the joy of thy Lord!!!”
