Douglas Lee Scroggins

Douglas Lee Scroggins , 73, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away on Thursday December 26, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Edgewood.  Born March 23, 1951 in the Mason Community of Grant County, he was the son of the late Quentin and Nellie Roland Scroggins.

On November 17, 1976 Douglas was united in marriage to the former Darlene Starnes; she preceded him in death on August 14, 2016. He worked for Lonkard Construction – Florence, KY, for over 40 years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed mechanic work, watching westerns and motor sports.

He is survived by two sons: John Howard Scroggins of Owenton, Steven Douglas Scroggins of Dry Ridge; one daughter: Kim Starnes Curtis of Williamstown; one sister: Wanda Scroggins, along with five grandchildren: Maranda Patterson, Denita Webster, Flem Patterson, Jesse Scroggins, John Shannon Scroggins and 12 great-grandchildren: Bryant Clark, Payton Clark, Ian Clark, Chloe Webster, Bentley Webster, Hunter Webster, Conner Webster, Kyler (Josh) Webster, Leo Scroggins, Carrisa Cupp, Malori Patterson and Flem Patterson III, all whom lovingly called him “Papaw”.  He was preceded in death by a grandson: Hayden Webster; one brother: Al Wayne Scroggins and one sister: Irene Scroggins.

Visitation will Thursday January 2, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Howard Chipman officiating.  He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Darlene Scroggins, at Hill Crest Cemetery.
