Eddie Gene Evans

Eddie Gene “Egg” Evans of Warsaw, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 20th, 2023 at the Gallatin Nursing & Rehab facility in Warsaw at the age of 88. Eddie was born in Dry Ridge, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 4th, 1934 to the late William Evans and Mary Collett.

In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his three brothers: Earl Evans, Donald Evans, and Harry Lee Evans; as well as his dear wife Charlotte Ann Evans. July 20th, the day he passed, was Charlotte’s birthday. Eddie & Charlotte were united in marriage on Saturday, July 23rd, 1955 and the two were married for over 60 years until Charlotte’s passing in June of 2017- Saturday would have marked their 68th wedding anniversary.

A graduate of the New Haven High School of Union, Kentucky, Eddie made a living as a self-employed masonry contractor. He was also a member of the Beverlick Christian Church in Walton, KY.  Eddie spent his most enjoyable moments while out in the woods hunting, at car shows showing off his Ford Mustang, and at cookouts, spending quality time with his family and the community.

Eddie is survived by his sister, Faye Williamson of Calvert City, Kentucky, and his two daughters, Debbie (Steve) Helmer of Williamstown, Kentucky and Teresa (Bill) Owen of Benton, Kentucky. He leaves a lasting legacy of his five treasured Grandchildren: Jason Helmer, Kristen (Adam) Walters, Craig (Jessica) Helmer, Evan (Taylor) Owen, and Kelsey Owen; along with his seven cherished Great-Grandchildren.

A visitation for Eddie will be held at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, Kentucky on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 from 5:00-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Monday, July 24th, 2023 at the funeral home in Verona, beginning at 10:00AM. Following the funeral, Eddie will be laid to rest at the Beverlick Christian Church Cemetery in Walton, KY, along side his beloved Charlotte.

The family wishes to thank the administration, nurses, CNA’s, and the entire staff of Gallatin Nursing for the wonderful care of their father and grandfather while at their facility.
