Edna Pollard Risen

Edna Frances Pollard Risen, 93, of Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025. She was born on January 9, 1932, in Lancaster, Kentucky, to Moat Pollard and Margaret Frances Sutton.

Edna was a devoted wife to John D. Risen, whom she married on December 24, 1960. John preceded her in death on February 19, 2011. Together, they shared many wonderful years of marriage.

Edna excelled academically, becoming the valedictorian of Camp Dick Robinson High School in 1950. She furthered her education at Eastern Kentucky University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1954. Early in her career, she was a Home Economics Teacher.  Her passion for nutrition led her to a fulfilling career as a nutritionist with the Kentucky Department of Health.

A dedicated member of the Williamstown Baptist Church, Edna was also actively involved in various community organizations. She was a proud member of the Williamstown Order of Eastern Star #301, currently, Rosebud #39. Her patriotism and love for history were evident in her role as a member and revolution officer for the Daughters of the American Revolution and as a member of the Grant County Historical Society. Edna was also a member of the Carlsbad Garden Club and had a passion for buying and selling antiques.

Edna is the last of her immediate family, and is only survived by a few cousins but will be remembered fondly by them and a host of close friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2025.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Burial will follow at Williamstown Cemetery in Williamstown, Kentucky.
