Edward "Ed" Cummins

Edward “Ed” Cummins , 72, of Crittenden, KY, passed away on Saturday May 18, 2024 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.  Born on May 17, 1952 in Kenton County, he was the son of the late Cecil Thomas and Loretta Maines Cummins.

Ed had a passion for farming, something he enjoyed doing all his life; nothing brought him more enjoyment in life than tending to his cattle and working the many tobacco crops he raised over the years. He lived the entire 72 years of his life on the farm where he was born. Content to live a simple and quiet life, he worked hard all throughout his life.  Reading was a favorite pastime, which at least in part, led him to become an avid Civil War buff, thus having a vast knowledge of Civil War history.  Ed will long be remembered for being a reserved, gentle-spirited individual who was never confrontational or argumentative.  Among his favorite ‘catchphrases” were: “It is what it is.” and “Whatever”.  He was a gun enthusiast; he enjoyed hunting and was a proud member of the NRA.

He leaves to carry on his memory to two sisters: Kay (late Ron) Smith of Richwood, KY, Mary (Tom) Chapin of Las Vegas, NV, along with his nieces and nephews: Lynley, Megan, Meredith, Alex and Jason. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil “Tom” Cummins, Jr.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 28, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 at Stanley Funeral Homes – Crittenden.  Friends and family will gather at the funeral home Wednesday morning May 29, 2024 at 10:45 and proceed to Crittenden Cemetery for interment, where he will be laid to rest with other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to the charity of ones’ choice.
