Ellen Vernice Stephens Evans

Mrs. Ellen Vernice Stephens Evans, a Verona resident, passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was the widow of late Harry Lee Evans.

Vernice was born in Rabbit Hash on May 7, 1940 to the late Vernon G. and Fay Conner Stephens. She was a member of, and former secretary of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona, KY of 25+ years. She loved cats, yard sales, flower gardening and reading.  She loved her family dearly and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Brian (Rhonda) Evans of Taylor Mill, KY, Tracy (Lora) Evans of Verona, KY, one daughter, Lisa (James) Poindexter of Rabbit Hash, KY, two brothers, Dennis Stephens and Phillip Stephens of Rabbit Hash, KY, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021 from 11am-1pm at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, KY.  Funeral Services will be at 1pm.  Vernice will be laid to rest next to her husband at the East Bend Cemetery.
