Emma Julia Burnette

Emma Julia (Judy) Winans Burnette of Dry Ridge, Kentucky went to her heavenly home at the age of 77 on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY.  She was born on April 17, 1946 to the late Howard and Grace Winans in Kenton Co., Kentucky.

On December 16, 1961, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ernest Ray Burnette.  After 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on February 16, 2022.

Judy worked at Carlsbad Personal Care Home in Dry Ridge, Kentucky while completing her nursing degree.  She started her nursing career at Speers Hospital in Dayton, Kentucky.  She also worked at Grant County Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital-North in Covington, Kentucky and Florence Medical Arts Center in Florence, Kentucky.  Retiring from her nursing career with the late Dr. Gary Shearer in Florence, Kentucky.  Along with her nursing career, she was by her husband's side on the farm helping with all the various farm chores.

Judy enjoyed her time outside in her vegetable and flower gardens, mowing grass and sewing.  She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking wonderful country meals and sitting around the table with family and friends talking about the good ol' days.  As her health started to deteriorate, she just loved spending time sitting outside on the porch talking with family and friends while taking in God's beauty.  Her pastimes were spent with her favorite dog, Beau, watching DIY, HGTV and Hallmark.

Judy was a member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church where she shared her love for the Lord with her church family.

In addition to her husband, Judy was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald (Ann) Winans, Robert Winans and William Winans.

Carrying on her legacy, she leaves a son, Darin Burnette, a daughter, Deanna (Jeff) Greene, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, two grand-daughters, Gracie and Tori, 1 great-grandson, many nieces and nephews as well as many friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be 1:00-4:00 PM, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Monday, March 25, 2024 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the New Vine Run Cemetery.
