Emma Dean Justice

Emma Dean Shelton Justice , 88, of Dry Ridge, KY, moved to her heavenly home on Monday May 6, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family.   Born in the Sherman Community on February 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Clay and Edrie Belle McBee Shelton, Sr.

On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald Joe Justice; he preceded her in death on January 13, 2009.  She was a dedicated and faithful housewife and homemaker.  Emma Dean will be long remembered as a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and was a beautiful example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that enriched their lives in so many ways.

Emma Dean loved serving her Lord and did so with all her heart. Though she was a humble, gentle-spirited lady, she was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior; only heaven knows the powerful and eternal impact of her many acts of love and compassion for others.  Crocheting, sewing and crafts were among her favorite pastimes; she further used her gifts making dresses for children in less fortunate countries.  She was a member of the Grant Co. Homemakers; her church membership was at Sherman Baptist Church where, for many years, she was devoted to their many ministries, which included teaching School School, working in Vacation Bible School, serving as an Acteen leader and being heavily involved with the WMU (Women’s Missionary Union).

Leaving to carry on her example of Christ-like love are her five children: Debbie June (Bobby) Tungate and Cathy Jo (late Terry) Stephenson, both of Crittenden; Sheila Ann Justice, Danny Mack (Mary) Justice and Randel Dean (Patty) Justice, all of Dry Ridge, KY; two sisters: Barbara Ann Stewart and Mary Michael (Boots) Kells , both of Dry Ridge and a sister-n-law: Patricia Shelton of Florence, KY.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Rebecca (Charles) Alsip, Joshua (Shelly) Justice, Jonathan Justice, Jamie (Matt) Shank and nine great-grandchildren: Destin Lainhart, Dominic Justice, Cade Justice, Zachary Justice, Aidan Shank, Ciara Shank, Trenton Drew, Carter Alsip and Emmalynn Alsip, all of whom lovingly called her “Mamaw”.  In addition to her husband of 54 years, Donald Joe Justice, she was preceded in death a brother: Stanley “Sonny Boy” Shelton, a grandson: Jared Justice and a great-grandson: Brandon Hayes.

Visitation will be Saturday May 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Sherman Baptist Church.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Pastor Andrew Lane officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
