Emogene Smoot

Emogene Smoot, 88, of Crittenden, KY, passed away Friday February 25, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.  She was born August 17, 1933 in Crittenden, KY.

She was the daughter of the late Willard and Mabel Plunkett Pugh, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmeth Marvin Smoot; he preceded her in death on May 5, 2005.  She was a Sales Clerk in retail most of her life.

Emogene will long be remembered as an excellent seamstress, over the years making most all the clothes for her children and grandchildren. Raising a garden (both vegetable and flowers), raising sheep and visiting friends in the local nursing homes brought her much joy and delight.  She was a 1950 graduate of Crittenden High School and a member of Crittenden Baptist Church; in recent years she attended Oddville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Marla (Bill) Smoot and Melissa (Roger) Smoot, both of Crittenden along with three grandsons: Wil (Elizabeth) Smoot, Grant Wallace, Kyle (Bridgett) Wallace and two great-granddaughters: Taleah Smoot and Brea Wallace.  She was preceded in death by all her siblings: Robert Pugh, James Pugh, Velma Pugh, Mary Alice Whalen and Christine Hicks.

Private graveside services were conducted Wednesday March 2, 2022 at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
