Ernest Ray Burnette

Ernest "Ernie" Ray Burnette was born July 11, 1941 in Grant County, KY and passed away Feb. 16, 2022 at his residence in Dry Ridge, KY at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Claude and Stella Updike Grubbs.

On December 16, 1961 Ernie was united in marriage to Emma "Judy" Winans Burnette. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Ernie is survived by a son: Darin Burnette of Dry Ridge; a daughter: Deanna (Jeff) Greene of Dry Ridge; siblings: Norma Grubbs, Jean Westover, Marcus (Omer) Blackburn, Doreen (Bob) Miles, Regina Wright and Janice (Dave) Smith; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Judy Blevins, and 2 brothers-in-law: Charlie Grubbs and Jerry Westover.

Ernie was a member at Clarks Creek Baptist Church, where he attended since he was a child.

He spent his life doing what he loved, which was farming.  He raised tobacco, cattle and spent many days working in hay.  He had a love of horse trail riding.  He was an avid UK Wildcat fan and also loved watching his westerns on TV.  Ernie never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Visitation will also be Saturday from 11:00 AM - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the New Vine Run Cemetery in Dry Ridge.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Kidney Foundation at 615 Elsinore Pl #400, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
