Ernest H. Smith

Mr. Ernest H. "Buck" Smith of Deland, FL. passed away in Florida on Tuesday, June 9 at the age of 90.  Mr. Smith was born October 18, 1929 in Owen County, KY. to the late Wilford Smith and Leathie Glass Smith.  Mr. Smith was a retired carpenter and mill worker for Causeway Lumber Co. and was a member of the New Columbus Baptist Church.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and during the war he served as security for the Panama Canal.  In his free time he enjoyed puzzles of all kinds and loved to go antiquing for small items he could buy and re-sell.

In addition to his parents Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife: Sara Spears Smith on Jan. 13, 2019 and he was preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Mr. Smith is survived by his son: Steven Smith of Deland, FL. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ernest H. "Buck" Smith will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, June 18 in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, 440 Old Corinth-Owenton Road, Corinth, KY. 41010 with Rev. Brad Vincent officiating.  Visitation will also be Thursday, June 18 from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm.  Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery, Owen County.  Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the New Columbus Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we are limited to 50% capacity so a line could perhaps be anticipated.  Social distancing and face coverings will be required.
