Eugene Hammond

Eugene Hammond was born April 23, 1931 in Grant Co., Kentucky and passed away December 22, 2021 at his residence at the age of 90.  He was the son of the late Clayton Elwood and Nellie Griffin Hammond.

On June 11, 1948, Eugene was united in marriage to Corine Ford Hammond.  In addition to his wife of 73 years he is survived by 2 daughters: Vicki Cull of Dry Ridge and Sandy (Tom) Jump of Dry Ridge; a son: David (Linda) Hammond of Dry Ridge; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.

Eugene was a retired salesman for Boone Steel and previously worked as a transportation director for Clow Corporation and Stewarts Truck Line.  He also formerly worked for citizens bank and enjoyed farming.  His family remembers him as a very good athlete.  He enjoyed playing fastpitch softball, having played for P and G as well as Dry Ridge Baptist Church and Vine Run Baptist Church teams.  He also loved bowling and was an avid golfer.

One of Eugene's greatest passions was serving others.  He was a founding and current member of First Love church in Dry Ridge where he was also treasurer for many years.  He was a devoted follower of Christ with a heart for servant leadership.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home (Williamstown location)  with Rev. Howard Chipman officiating.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
