Everett Eugene Hatmaker I, 75 of Verona, KY, died Monday November 16, 2020 at his residence. Born August 13, 1945, in Block, TN, he was the son of the late Claude English and Helen Christine Douglas Hatmaker.
On March 16, 1968 he was united in marriage to the former Rose Marie Abbott; she survives. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Batavia, OH as a mechanic. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served 3 Tours of Duty in Vietnam, was a U. S. Army Ranger and served in the 75 th Paratrooper Division. After serving in active duty, he spent the rest of his military duty in the Army National Guard. As a pastime, he loved collecting coins and guns. He was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and faithfully served his Lord at Community Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his legacy, his wife: Rose Marie Abbott Hatmaker; two sons: Gene (Sandy) Hatmaker of Morrow, OH, Sonny (Shelia) Hatmaker of Ravine, KY; four daughters: Carrie Faye (Dwayne) Smith of Pendleton, Kentucky, Angie (Allan) Pope of Harrison, OH, Chrissy (Shane) McArter of Crittenden, KY, Bridget “Bridgejello” (Steve) Lilly of Dry Ridge, KY and a step-daughter: Megan Forste of Bellevue, KY; a daughter-n-law: Sarah (late Everett II) Hatmaker of Verona; one brother: Don (late Sheryl) Hatmaker of Hamilton, OH and one sister: Sue (late Ron) Leach of Florida. Eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a son: Everett “Ebby” Eugene Hatmaker II, two brothers: Claude Hatmaker, Jr., Frank Hatmaker and a sister: Nancy (Dennis) Maddock.
Visitation will be Thursday November 19, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes (Williamstown location). Funeral services will be conducted Friday November 20 th at 2:30 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes (Williamstown) with Revs. Don Harper and Jerry Knox officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery in Verona with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made in Everett's memory to: Wounded Warrior Project in care of Stanley Funeral Homes P.O. Serving as pallbearers are: Anthony Hatmaker, Ayden Hatmaker, Trey Hatmaker, Dustin Hutchinson, Hunter McNerney, Nathan Davis, Michael Spurlock and Miles Spurlock.
