Floyd Collins Lonkard

September 12, 1927 — July 7, 2020

Mr. Floyd Collins Lonkard of Lexington, KY. and formerly of Corinth, KY. passed away Tuesday, July 7 at the Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Lexington, KY. at the age of 92.  Mr. Lonkard was born September 12, 1927 in Owen County, KY. to the late Henry Lonkard and Nellie Wright Lonkard.  Mr. Lonkard was a retired carpenter and a long time member of the Stonewall First Church of God.  Mr. Lonkard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his parents Mr. Lonkard was preceded in death by a daughter: Carolyn Garnett in 2018 and by a son: Floyd C. Lonkard, Jr. in 2019.  He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Mr. Lonkard is survived by 2 sons: Jimmie C. Lonkard of Georgetown, KY. and Bobby Lonkard of Corinth, KY.  He has 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial for Mr. Floyd Collins Lonkard will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, July 10 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY., 41097 with military honors.  Visitation will also be on Friday, July 10 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am in the chapel of the McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth.  The procession will leave Corinth at approximately 10:30 am.
