Frances Clinkscales Stanley

Frances Clinkscales Stanley was born Mar. 5, 1919 in Williamstown, KY and went to her heavenly home Sept. 10, 2018 in Williamstown at the age of 99 years.  She was the youngest child of a family of six children born to the late Dr. Foster Marshall and Anna Isabell Blanchett Clinkscales.

She was a 1936 graduate of Williamstown High School, then attended Bethel Woman’s College majoring in piano and vocal music.  She married Beuford E. Stanley in 1939, then received her KY Funeral Director’s license in 1944 to assist her husband as co-owners of Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Following her husband’s passing in 1995 Frances continued her work in the family business along with her two sons, Michael and Dennis Stanley, and their sons, Patrick and Douglas Stanley until failing health just a year ago.

In addition to her parents, her husband, and all five siblings, she was preceded in death by her second son, Lawrence Foster “Pat” Stanley in 1950.  She was a lifelong member of the Williamstown Baptist Church where she faithfully served as the church pianist for 75 years.  She was also a 75 year member of the Williamstown Order of the Eastern Star # 301 where she served as the chapter organist for all those years.  She enjoyed membership in the Williamstown Woman’s Club since 1939, serving in many capacities.  For 25 years she served as the Secretary for the Williamstown Independent Schools Alumni Association and was one of the founding members of the schools’ WISE Trust Fund, serving as a Trustee until recently.  She had been recognized and honored by these and other community organization for her many years of service to her church, community, profession, and family.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael and his wife, Brenda, and Dennis, and his wife, Donna, all of Williamstown, five grandchildren, Douglas (Julie) Stanley  of Union, KY., Patrick (Monica) Stanley , Debra (Matt) Turner, Elisa (Stacy) Gray , and Deana (Darryl) Cummins, all of Williamstown and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at the Williamstown Baptist Church, 214 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097 with visitation from 5 – 8 PM Friday at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown and after 10 AM Saturday at the church.  Interment will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.
