Franklin Sparks Jr. of Crittenden, Kentucky passed away at his residence on Monday, May 15th, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born at home in Boone County, KY on Tuesday, October 29th, 1946 to the late Franklin Sparks Sr. and Mildred Louise Klette. In addition to his parents, Franklin is preceded in death by four of his brothers: Roger Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, Bobby Luttrell, and Sonny.
Franklin was a retired member of the Laborers International Union of North America; he and his fellow union members were responsible for completing many of the major construction projects across Nevada. Following his retirement, he happily worked alongside his sisters and family at their restaurant, Family’s Main Street Cafe in Walton, KY. Franklin loved his family, to them he was such an incredibly loving brother and caring individual to the world. As a lifelong sports fan, he adored watching his Ohio State Football, UK Basketball, and Cincinnati Reds Baseball teams; a passion which carried over into his hobby of collecting sports memorabilia. A true vintage man and collector at heart, Franklin enjoyed attending old car shows and amassing collections of just about anything that brought him joy.
Surviving are Franklin’s daughter, Tina (Joey) Winn of Portsmouth, Ohio; his seven sisters: Janet (Wayne) Smith of Georgia, Karen (Randy) Eldridge of Largo, FL, Shelia (Donald) Sebastian of Gallatin County, KY, Sandy Schweitzer of Alexandria, KY, Sharon McAtee of Texas, Ruth (Joe) Reynolds of Georgia, Juanita (Ron) Cushman of Georgia; as well as five brothers: Mike Luttrell of Lexington, KY, Daniel Luttrell of Lexington, KY, Larry Huffman of Independence, KY, Robert Sparks of Ohio, and Milton Sparks of Missouri. Franklin leaves a legacy of his five beloved Grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Franklin will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 18th, 2023 at the Hamilton Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, KY. A visitation will be held beforehand at the funeral home from 11:00am-1:00pm. Following the funeral service, Franklin will be laid to rest at the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY.
