Garnett Lernor Smith

Garnett Lernor Peare Smith was born June 1, 1935 in Covington, Kentucky and passed away Jan. 27, 2024 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 88.  She was the daughter of the late Jennie Ellen Schappert and George William Peare,III.

"Garney", as she was loving know by those closest to her, was a retired machine operator for Durobag in Florence. She loved crocheting and enjoyed camping.  She will be remembered by her family as being a great cook, especially her cole slaw and green beans.

On December 23, 1985 Garney was united in marriage to Ernest James William Smith who preceded her in death in 2016.  She is survived by her son Rick (Josephine) Smith of Port Charlotte, FL; five grandchildren: Linette Smith, Christina (Roy) Hamon, Benjamin (Jasmine) Smith, Michelle (Mark) Cayton and William "Billy" Smith; 18 great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Peare and George Peare, IV, and two sisters: Patricia Grubbs and Jennie Tinnell.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.  Funeral services will be 6:00 PM, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home.  In keeping with Garney's wishes she will be cremated following the funeral service and burial of cremated remains will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
