It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Garren E. Jones, a beloved figure in our community. He was born on September 25, 1936 in Beech Grove, IN to Loren Oliver and Gareta Mae Crump Jones and passed away in Edgewood, KY.
On March 4, 2006, Garren was united in marriage to his loving wife of 18+ years, Pauline Gail Morgan Jones. In addition to his wife, Garren is survived by two daughters, Garnet (Eddie) Meeks, Paula Kay Jones; two stepsons, Joseph L (Deedee) Wheeler, Thomas W. (Cathy) Wheeler; two stepdaughters, Ellaine G (Barry) Hussung, Patricia (Clarence) Knight; nine grandchildren, Joseph (Jenifer) Short, James (Ashley) Short, LeAnne Short, Jamahl Knight, Chantel Knight, Aaron (Sarah) Funk, Austin (Devan) Funk, Andrea (Chad) Peters, Annett Crimmins and eight great-grandchildren, Zaden Short, David Short, Tristan Suel, Sadie Suel, Jamahl Knight, Jr., Noah Peters, Ewen Funk, and Phillip Funk.
Garren's life was a testament to diligence, dedication, and a love for order and care. He served his country in the National Guard, was a Civil Engineer, a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church. Known as a master documenter and organizer, his meticulous nature was a cornerstone of his professional and personal life.
Garren was also a former restaurant owner with a passion for service and later he dedicated his organizational talents to managing assisted living establishments, where his compassion and leadership made a significant impact on the lives of many residents and their families.
Outside of his professional achievements, Garren found joy in the simple pleasures, especially playing in the Crittenden Rook League with his wife for 11 years. Through his love for the game he gained friends and created countless cherished memories.
Garren's legacy is one of service, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Elliston Stanley Funeral Home at 500 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with burial in the Williamstown Cemetery, Williamstown, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Williamstown United Methodist Church, 206 Paris Street, Williamstown, KY 41097.
