Gene Mathews

Eugene “Gene” C. Mathews , 76, of Dry Ridge, KY, died Friday October 20, 2023 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, while surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 11, 1947 in Troy, OH, he was the son of the late Clarence and Genevieve Mathews.

On February 3, 1979 in Troy, OH, Gene was united in marriage to the former Teresa D. Goodson; she survives. For 15 years he served as a Service Technician for Cherry Hill Home Sales. He made a profound impact on the lives of everyone he touched. Being a very active individual, he loved playing golf, working out in the gym and spending time weightlifting but his greatest legacy is his impeccable faithfulness as a husband, father, “Poppy” and powerful Prayer Warrior.  He faithfully served his Lord through the ministries of Sherman Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, Teresa, he is survived by two sons: Chaz S. (Nikki) Mathews of Union, KY, Blake P. (Lee) Mathews of Dry Ridge, KY; one brother: George (Rita) McKenna of Tipp City, OH, along with eight beautiful grandchildren: Corey, Braidie, Kendyl, Rhyalin, Miley, Makinley, Whitley and Cohen.  He was preceded in death by three siblings: Harry, Vernon and Jane.

Visitation will be Tuesday October 24, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at 9:00 and will continue until the time of the funeral at 11:00 with Bro. Scotty Simpson officiating; special music will be brought by Kelly Clemons.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
